Knit Per Pirak’s beautiful market mittens! This knitting pattern is a reconstruction by knitting expert Erika Nordvall Falck, based on a preserved pair of ceremonial mittens from Jokkmokk. Per Pirak was a reindeer herder from Jokkmokk and received the mittens as a gift from his mother, Inga Mina Pirttsi (born 1876). He wore them for many years at the Jokkmokk Winter Market. Despite frequent use, the mittens have retained their beauty and character, a testament to both the quality of the materials and the care they have received through generations.
