Anders Sunna

Anders Sunna is a Sámi artist based in Jokkmokk. His work explores colonialism, power, and Sámi rights, and has made him one of the world's most recognized Sámi artists.

His international breakthrough came when the Nordic Pavilion at the 2022 Venice Biennale was transformed into the Sámi Pavilion. There, his monumental work Illegal Spirits of Sápmi was exhibited, portraying his family's struggle of more than fifty years to protect their reindeer herding rights. Today, his work is represented in collections including Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Tate in London, the National Museum in Oslo, and the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg.

About Stoorstålka

Stoorstålka is a Sámi design company based in Jokkmokk, founded by Idja Lotta Stoor and Piera Niilá Stålka. The company develops contemporary Sámi design inspired by life in Sápmi and offers clothing, accessories, home décor, and products for traditional Sámi crafts and textile work.

A Collaboration Rooted in Jokkmokk

The idea for Coffee. Fight. Repeat. was born in Jokkmokk. Anders Sunna and Stoorstålka moved to Jokkmokk at roughly the same time and have collaborated and helped each other with various projects over the years. Anders has his studio in the same building where Stoorstålka has its shop. And between them, there have also been many cups of coffee.
