Knit Anne-Lise’s children’s mittens from Karesuando. This knitting pattern for children’s mittens is based on an older original with traditional North Sámi colors and a design language that has been passed down through generations.

Here you get a knitting pattern for children’s mittens in three sizes, perfect for anyone who wants to knit warm and patterned mittens for the very youngest. The characteristic eight-pointed star is a beloved motif throughout Sápmi and gives the mittens their timeless expression.

The original mittens were worn by Anne-Lise as a child and were knitted by her mother, Sara Harnesk from Karesuando. They are a fine example of the local knitting tradition, where color, pattern, and function work together. In this interpretation, the pattern has been adapted for children’s sizes and supplemented to provide a comfortable and practical interior.

The pattern is developed by knitting expert Erika Nordvall Falck, who specializes in recreating traditional knitting patterns based on preserved original mittens. Each pattern is based on a real historical mitten that has been carefully studied and reconstructed with great respect for the original.

When you knit these children’s mittens, you are not just following a pattern – you are taking part in a living cultural heritage, where every stitch carries a story.
