Knitting bundle for creating the Star Mitten from Norrfjärden, a historical pattern featuring an eight-pointed star motif. The original mitten was found as a worn remnant in an outbuilding in Norrfjärden outside Piteå, and was later shown to have been knitted by Ethel Johanna Nyström from the village of Antnäs. The mitten received great attention in the large mitten exhibition that toured Sweden from 2016, and is also featured in the book Marknadsvantar.
The pattern was developed by knitting expert Erika Nordvall Falck and includes clear instructions for two women’s sizes (approx. 10 and 11 cm wide), with small pattern variations. The design’s clear structure makes it easy to adapt with your own color choices – but this bundle contains a ready-made combination in white and wine red.
Needles are not included, but 2.00 mm double-pointed needles are recommended.
